Grade Six
In these next few weeks leading up to Christmas we are working on...
1) Division in Math. We are learning how to divide with area models, partial quotients, and using the traditional algorithm.
2) Writing a short story using voice, sentence complexity, correct punctuation and paragraphing, and more.
3) Grammar skills and spelling patterns.
4) The reproductive system in Science.
5) Our group Culture projects in Social Studies.
6) Setting boundaries, human trafficking, and consent, focusing on keeping ourselves safe in Health (all at a very Grade Six level).
7) The beginning of Jesus' ministry, as we work our way through the Gospels.
8) Starting our new ADST projects.
Upcoming Events:
Today (Dec 5) Report Cards are online.
Dec 9 - last day to write the rough drafts of our stories.
Dec 10 - Spelling Test and Ugly Christmas Sweater Day.
Dec 11 - Our 67th day of school! Dress up in something inspired by 6-7. Scholastic Book Fair.
Dec 12 - BMV due. Scholastic Book Fair. Half day, dismissal at 12:10 for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Dec 17 - PJ Day.
Dec 18 - Christmas Party with Secret Santa gift exchange (those will go home on Monday) and food. Please send in food for the class party.
Dec 18 - Christmas Performance at 1:30pm and 6pm. Students need to arrive at the classroom at 5:30pm to prepare for the performance.
