Happy New Year!
An email went out today to all parents about our upcoming ski day, with a second email out to the parent drivers/chaperones.
This month we are deep into our Grade Six curriculum.
In Math, we are focusing on Financial Literacy as we prepare for our Valentine Market. A letter will be going home tomorrow as we begin planning what we will make, the costs, and how much we will charge per item, in the hope of making a profit. In our math lessons we are counting money, calculating change, looking at different payment methods and setting financial goals. We are also looking at budgeting, interest, and consumerism.
In Language Arts, we will continue to work on a different grammar skill each week and spelling patterns. We are starting a new novel study on A Long Walk to Water, and will do different activities tied to that. We will also continue to develop our writing skills.
In Science, we are starting a unit on the endocrine (hormonal) system, then will move into our unit on Space.
In Social Studies, we are continuing to work on our Create a Culture group projects.
In Bible, we are continuing to read and learn about the life of Jesus through the Gospels.
We will also continue our Health, ADST, and Art lessons.
